The Paragon Effect – Adam's experience with Light Eyes Ultra, tear trough filler and polynucleotides
In this instalment of The Paragon Effect, we discuss how Dr. Rosie rejuvenated her patient, Adam’s eye area with a combination of treatments including tear trough filler, polynucleotides and Light Eyes Ultra.

The peri-orbital area is one of the first areas to show signs of ageing due to the skin being much thinner than elsewhere on the face and body. Other factors which contribute to wrinkles around the eyes include bony resorption, changes in sub-cutaneous fat volume, and activity of the muscle around the eye (orbicularis oculi), leading to crow’s feet.
Dark circles can be caused by a number of reasons: genetics, lack of sleep, eating excess salty foods, certain medications, poor peri-ocular circulation, and skin dyspigmentation. In Adam’s case he mostly displayed stasis of the blood vessels. When the blood vessels become ‘lazy’ they can leak fluid and pigments which can stain the skin.

- No puffiness around the eyes which would have been an indicator of poor lymphatic drainage and therefore he would have been unsuitable for tear trough fillers
Adam’s first eye treatment was tear trough fillers using Teoxane Redensity II in November 2021. We used a modest amount of filler as the hollowing was mild and it is always best to under-treat the tear trough area. Over-treatment can result in an unnatural appearance and side effects such as puffiness or migration of filler.
As you can see in the photos below the tear trough filler resulted in a smoother transition from the eyelid to the cheek, and achieved a modest improvement in the dark circles and fine lines.
In 2022 we introduced polynucleotides (Ameela, previously branded Nucleofill/Nucleadyn) and Light Eyes Ultra to the clinic and it’s been extremely popular among practitioners and patients.
Ameela not a filler, it is a polynucleotide gel (the building blocks of DNA and RNA) used to biorevitalise the face, eyes, neck and hands. When injected it attracts your own stem cells to the treatment area which then transform into fibroblasts, osteoblasts and myofibroblasts to provide a multitude of benefits.
The benefits of Ameela Eyes include:
- Stimulation of collagen and elastin production to improve skin quality
- Stimulation of new blood vessels to improve circulation, which brightens dark circles and reduces puffiness
- Skin tightening
- Reduction in wrinkles
Ameela can be combined with other treatments, such as toxin, filler or light eyes.
Light Eyes is a mesotherapy treatment, which involves tiny injections of a cocktail of beneficial ingredients into the superficial layer of the skin. The ingredients include:
- Hyaluronic acid (fundamental component of connective tissue and boosts skin hydration)
- Rosemary extract (antioxidant useful for skin repair)
- Superoksid Dismutase (another strong antioxidant found naturally in the body and many plants)
- Argireline (softens the contraction of facial muscles which results in softening of wrinkles)
- Chamomile (anti-inflammatory and soothing)
- Ruscus and blueberry extract (improves the tone and reduces the leakiness of blood vessels)
- Vitamin C (aids production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, protects against free radical damage, and strengthens the skin’s tissues).
The indications for Light Eyes Ultra treatment include:
- Poor circulation/swelling above and below the eyes
- Dark circles
- Dry/dehydrated skin
- Minimal skin laxity
- Capillary stasis and leakage
- Pre/post bleph surgery to aid healing
Adam’s treatment plan was as follows
- Day 1 – Ameela Eyes
- Day 15 – Light Eyes Ultra
- Day 30 – Ameela Eyes

By using a combination of treatment modalities, we have been able to improve Adam’s under eye hollows, treat his dark circles and reduce his fine lines.
