Aesthetics trends to avoid

We’re seeing a huge rise in aesthetics trends due to the increased awareness of the procedures on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, this has led to patients suffering from unnatural results and an increased risk to their safety.
To give you some food for thought, we’re now going to share our professional opinion on the top three aesthetics trends our aesthetics doctors, Dr. Elle Claire Reid, Dr. Chloe Aucott, Dr. Aran Maxwell-Cox and Dr. Rosie Petch, here at Paragon Aesthetics would avoid.
Fox eye lift
What is the fox eye lift? The Fox eye thread lift is deemed as a medical procedure that uses ‘threads’, which are barbed broaches, under the skin to lift the lateral tail of the brow.
As it is a medical procedure, it should only be carried out by medical professionals in CQC registered sites, unfortunately we are seeing more and more non-medical individuals carrying out this treatment in non-CQC sites.
This has increased the adverse effects of treatment, where patients are experiencing increased infections, a hyper-elevated brow, skin puckering above the brow and ultimately an unnatural appearance.
As our ethos is built on creating natural results, this is a treatment which we won’t be adding to our portfolio in clinic.
Buccal fat removal
What is buccal fat removal? Also known as cheek fat removal, buccal fat removal is a surgical procedure where the fat is surgically excised from your inside of your cheeks to give a more chiselled, contoured appearance.
Initially yes, you may like your results. But what predominates in facial ageing is loss of volume. This means in five or ten years after treatment, or especially when you’re in your fifties upwards, face fat removal will result in a gaunt appearance and have an adverse effect on your facial aesthetics, making you look older.
Although we don’t offer surgical procedures at our clinic, it’s something we would advise our patients to thoroughly consider before undergoing the procedure elsewhere.
Treatment packages
Treatment packages are rife across aesthetics businesses on social media, you’ll often find these packages are labelled as the ‘Kylie’ or ‘Kim’ filler package.
These filler packages claim to use a set amount of product, for example a 6ml filler package. The issue with this is that good aesthetics isn’t a one size fits all, and now the injector is left trying to work out where to fit 6ml into a face that probably doesn’t need 6ml of filler.
Another trait you’ll find with these packages is all the results end up looking the same, very extreme and very exaggerated on the patient. The outcome is never tailored to the individual patient’s facial structure but instead are cloned from patient to patient.
With this in mind, we would never offer treatment packages at Paragon Aesthetics, we believe good aesthetics is making you look like you, and you are truly bespoke. We will always carry out a thorough consultation and fully access the facial area to offer a customised treatment plan. If you’re thinking about undergoing a treatment package elsewhere, we would advise you to fully research the injector, look at their work and think about whether it’s the style of results you would like.
