The Paragon Effect – Kirbie's skincare journey with us
In this feature of The Paragon Effect, we’ll be sharing Kirbie’s story. Kirbie has been a patient with us for almost three years and has been on a journey to improve her skin previously suffering with frequent breakouts, congestion and dullness. Looking back Kirbie said: “Before visiting Paragon Aesthetics I didn’t have a good skincare routine in place, and had never considered the benefits of medical grade products, even after trying multiple over the counter products that never seemed to work.”
Firstly, what is medical grade skincare and how does it differ to high street products?
Backed by clinical research, medical grade skincare contains higher concentrations of active ingredients and targets deeper skin layers, oppose to sitting on the skin surface like many of the over the counter products do. This is important in making significant changes to the skin, meaning medical grade products work more effectively, enable faster results and due to the small amount of product required, it lasts longer. Medical grade skincare is designed to target a whole range of concerns including acne, aging, pigmentation, rosacea and sun damage.
Now, let’s look at her journey with us:
Consultation
- Initial consultation to discuss concerns
- Determined it would be effective to use a range of treatments and products in a comprehensive treatment plan

- Pigmentation and sun damage
Skincare history and facial assessment determined:

- No consistent skincare routine
- No use of daily SPF
- Pigmentation present from excessive sun bed use
- Small fine lines beginning to form
- Textural deformities causing dull tone
Treatment plan:
- Initial consultation with Dr. Elle to discuss concerns and expectations
- 3D Visage facial analysis at regular intervals to assess effectiveness of plan
- Medical grade skincare including: retinol, moisturiser, vitamin C and SPF
- 3 sessions of radiofrequency microneedling with Dr. Elle
- Weekly Dermalux LED therapy sessions
- Monthly HydrO2 Facials with Nurse Annalise
- Regular reviews to assess skin
3D Visage facial analysis results:
3D Visage is our facial analysis machine which helps us to take a closer look at the deeper layers of the skin and is designed to detect underlying skin conditions. The scanner takes photographs from three different angles of the face. Using state-of-the-art technology, the machine then analyses the photographs revealing your skin concerns and true skin age based on hydration levels, pigmentation levels, congestion, acne, wrinkles, skin texture, UV spots, brown spots, red areas and porphyrins.
At the start of the journey we educated Kirbie on the importance of healthier lifestyle choices to positively impact her skin, which included no sun bed use, dedication to the medical grade skincare plan and daily use of SPF to protect from further sun damage.
We recorded Kirbie’s sun damage at the beginning of the process and at the end of her treatment plan to compare the underlying pigmentation, as you can see the below this has massively improved and will only continue to improve as she maintains her medical grade skincare journey.

Radiofrequency microneedling, LED therapy and HydrO2 Facials:
We introduced weekly 30-minute Dermalux LED phototherapy sessions into this treatment plan to reduce Kirbie’s frequent breakouts. The machine has multiple light settings tailored to certain skin concerns, we recommended the blue light in Kirbie’s case to destroy acne causing bacteria and reduce inflammation. The LED sessions proved effective, allowing us to gain control over the frequent breakouts, paired with Kirbie’s consistent use of our medical grade skincare recommendations.
We then carried out three sessions of radiofrequency microneedling, at four to six week intervals. Radiofrequency microneedling uses tiny sterile needles create controlled trauma to the skin and delivers radiofrequency energy to specific depths within the skin’s dermis. In response more collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid is produced, working wonders as an antiageing skin tightening procedure and helped Kirbie to gain an even skin texture, minimising smaller fine lines that had started to appear, working great for any additional acne scars that had formed from previous breakouts.
Our HydrO2 Facial uses seven different treatment functions to offer a completely bespoke facial, designed to suit our individual patient’s needs. It can be tailored to be anti-ageing, skin brightening or to fight congestion, ranging from 30, 60 or 90 minute treatments available to suit each time frame and budget. By introducing monthly HydrO2 Facials to Kirbie’s treatment plan this keeps her skin from becoming congested, clearing any bacteria and build up on the skin for the ultimate glow, resulting in a brighter complexion.

Speaking on her results, Kirbie said:
“Beginning my skincare journey with Paragon Aesthetics will always be one of the best things I ever did. I’d struggled for years with my skin and it was so difficult to find products that didn’t make my breakouts worse, I started to think it was a lost cause. The combination of treatments and medical grade skincare throughout the plan has completely transformed my skin, it’s so much smoother, pigmentation has disappeared and I rarely get any breakouts now. I’m so grateful to the whole team at Paragon for their expertise throughout this journey, I feel so confident being makeup free now.”
